The objective of Winston-Salem State University?s BS in Clinical Laboratory Science program is to graduate technically competent practitioners who interpret, assess validity, and correlate clinical laboratory data. This program will instill the highest standards of performance and professional ethics in all graduates, and provide graduates with tools that promote sound, independent judgment, successful problem-solving abilities, and essential educational and administrative skills. Graduates will become professionals who are effective communicators with all members of the health care team as well as support and mentor the development of professional responsibility to include life-long learning activities, teamwork skills, and the ability to adapt to and facilitate change. They will actively educate others regarding the integral role of clinical laboratory scientists in delivering quality patient care and will be prepared to pass national certification examinations in order to enter professional practice. This degree is geared towards students who have graduated from a NAACLS approved MLT (CLT) program with an associate degree, and who have three or more years of clinical laboratory work experience. Students should also be ASCP, NCA, AMT, or HEW certified or eligible.
