There has been a great increase in the use of the expert witness in the health related field. These include the traditional areas of environmental health hazards, occupational health issues, impact of personal injury, public health impact. This concentration was developed as a result of a recognized need in the profession for qualified and well-trained expert witnesses. An expert witness is one who, by reason of education and/or specialized experience, possesses superior knowledge of the subject matter about which persons having no particular training are incapable of forming an accurate opinion or deducing correct conclusions. The Master of Science in Health Sciences - Law and Expert Witness Studies is for health professionals that are first-time experts and for those with limited experience who want to be prepared to deliver professional services as an expert witness. Experienced expert witnesses will also be able to sharpen their skills.
