The Associate of Science in Medical Billing and Coding (ASMBC) degree program provides students with the foundation to work in entry-level positions in health care organizations and continued study for more advanced degrees. The general education component focuses on classifying and coding diagnosis and procedures. The foundations of Billing and Coding are addressed in courses in coding, medical terminology, disease processes, health care organizations and management. Graduates gain concepts and skills that provide the ability to be immediately productive in both public and private health organizations. The Stonecliffe College Online ASMBC degree program equips graduates for opportunities in entry to mid-level positions of health care organizations in the areas of information processing, retention, storage and retrieval. Graduates will also gain a deeper understanding of information technology systems used in the health industry to facilitate the use of collection, interpretation, analysis and retrieval of patient, financial, medical and administrative data and information. Stonecliffe College Online now offers an accelerated option that allows students to take two courses at a time, giving Associate's degree candidates a significant amount of control over how quickly they can earn an industry-current, career-focused degree. In the accelerated option, students take two courses every 5 ½ week session. By taking two courses at a time, students can complete the Associate's degree program in as little as 15 calendar months.
