Kaplan University's Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies provides a solid foundation in the law and paralegal skills, including litigation preparation, document supervision, and legal research. Graduates may pursue career opportunities or job advancement in a legal environment such as a private law firm, corporate law department, or local, state, or federal agency. You will gain research and analytical skills along with technical competencies in specialized areas of law. The emphasis in Family Law will prepare you to join a law practice that specializes in family matters, from child support to adoptions to divorce. This program will provide primary paralegal support for attorneys, including research, contacting courts and clients, and coordinating hearings. Required courses in this curriculum include: Family Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution or Family and Divorce Mediation, Elder Law, Family and Domestic Violence or Juvenile Justice and The Role of the Paralegal in a Family Law Practice.
