If you already have your associate?s or bachelor's degree, our online advanced start program can help you earn a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies online in under two years.* This program provides a solid foundation in the law and paralegal skills, including litigation preparation, document supervision, and legal research. Graduates may pursue career opportunities or job advancement in a legal environment such as a private law firm, corporate law department, or local, state, or federal agency. Kaplan University's Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies with an emphasis in Social Security Law will prepare you to work on your own or for a law firm as a non-attorney client representative before the Social Security Administration. You will learn how to lead clients through procedures, argue cases and cross-examine witnesses, just as an attorney would. You may also find work at the SSA. Required courses include: Social Security Disability Law, Principles of Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Preparing for the Administrative Law Hearing, Handling Childhood Disability Claims, Principles of Medicaid and Medicare and The Role of the Paralegal in a Social Security Law.
