The continuing emphasis on educational quality and accountability has created a high demand for educators with specialized skills in curriculum and instruction. This EdS specialization is designed to help you develop and demonstrate the research-based knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to create and implement instructional improvement initiatives and increase student achievement. Designed around national teaching and licensure standards, this specialization is intended for educators and administrators who have completed a master?s degree and want to gain additional knowledge and increase their career options. People who choose this specialization are often licensed teachers or administrators interested in pursuing building or district leadership positions in the field of curriculum and instruction, or in continuing their studies at the doctoral level. (Equivalent course work taken as part of the EdS program may be applied to degree requirements for a Capella PhD degree.)
